My students will be immersed in inquiry based methodologies. Traditional lectures and textbook reading will be limited. Given the wealth of information required for this course, it seems like a daunting task to “cover” all of the necessary material. However, through the use of inquiry and investigation, memorization of random facts is not necessary. Experiencing biological phenomena helps learners construct an understanding of scientific processes. Student-generated hypotheses and procedures, as well as brainstorming through the use of case studies and other learning tools, all help students build their critical thinking skills, and the content can then be incorporated, and thus learned, in this way.

AP Biology is an amazing course. It was my favorite in high school and it's one of my favorites to teach. We will spend about 120 days learning about the chaos and beautiful coordination of life. We use the 4 Big Ideas to help organize our thinking:
